About Recicla-Tips®

Recicla-Tips
The Recicla-Tips® program is a specialized independent eco-labeling system focused on packaging and product containers in order to provide consumers with clear and accurate information on the recyclability of these materials. Its main objective is to promote the transition to a circular economy, encouraging the adoption of recyclable materials among both the consumers and manufacturers, as well as to provide guidance on the correct disposal of these materials.
Objective Simplify the recycling process

03
Provide clear information on recyclability:
Make it easy for consumers to identify which materials can be recycled using the Recyclability Traffic Light system.
Promote sustainable practices in production:
Encourage manufacturers to choose recyclable materials and provide clear instructions for their correct disposal.
Reduce waste:
Encourage the participation of consumers and companies in responsible waste management, contributing to a more sustainable Mexico.
Why? Numbers and statistics
In Mexico, the daily generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) amounts to more than 120,000 tons per day. This figure reflects a significant growth in the last decade, driven by the expansion of urban areas and population growth; of this figure, an average of 84% is collected, which means a national coverage of 100,751 tons of waste per day.
Approximately 38,000 tons per day of the total waste generated is potentially recyclable or usable through energy recovery. However, only 9.63% of the waste generated is recycled, which indicates a considerable opportunity to improve waste management practices in the country.

Urban solid waste collection coverage in the country is 83.93%, which means that nearly 19,000 tons of waste remain uncollected.

In Mexico, more than 40% of low-density plastics are single-use plastics.

In 2022 there was an increase of 53% in the generation of municipal solid waste, and an average 27% per capita.

This limitation in collection and recycling infrastructure underscores the need for efforts such as the Recicla-Tips® program to promote more effective and sustainable waste management.

For recyclable materials to be reintegrated into the value chain,
3 THINGS ARE NEEDED:

PROPER LABELING
Proper identification of the material or materials that make up the package.
The label should contain the necessary information so that the consumer can know what to do with the packaging at the time of disposal.

PROPER SORTING
Sorting at the source.
When we separate our waste correctly, we help facilitate recycling and prevent it from reaching the landfills.

PROPER COLLECTION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
romoting recycling collection and infrastructure.
It is necessary to promote the recycling chain for materials that are not currently recycled but have the potential to be recycled.
